Zumo monthly update: what’s new in June 2021?
by Daniel Taylor April 2023

New faces, a new app release and a brand new in-app crypto, Bitcoin SV (BSV). Here's what we’ve been up to in June 2021.

It’s been a month of introductions here at Zumo – new faces, a new app release and a brand new in-app crypto. As we head into the summer months – pleasantly punctuated by the football of the Euro cup, at least for our English contingent! – here’s what we’ve been up to in the month of June 2021.

ETH’s a winner
Congratulations to Neil and Oscar, winners of our most recent ETH giveaway. It’s a real privilege to be able to hear some of the personal stories from our growing Zumer community. We caught up with Neil and Oscar to find out more about how they started their Zumo crypto journey in our interview feature.

Talking of giveaways…
We’re celebrating June’s launch of Bitcoin SV (BSV) in the Zumo app – our third supported cryptocurrency. To mark the occasion, we’ve launched our biggest single giveaway yet – £10,000 worth of BSV for one lucky winner. If you don’t quite know what BSV is, we’ve written all about it in our BSV guide. And if you haven’t yet entered our giveaway, you still have until 26 July to get your entry in by downloading and activating the Zumo app

We hope you enjoy discovering a whole new crypto with us – plus look out for a new BSV Refer & Share campaign coming soon!

Zumo’s growing
We’ve got big plans this year as we continue on our quest to get people around the world comfortable with crypto.

Since the start of the year, we’ve welcomed eight new team members – including five new starts all on the 1 June! Meet our new Zumers in our blog piece.

Making life easier
The latest version of the Zumo app, Zumo 3.1, hit the Google Play and Apple App stores at the end of June.

As well as offering newly introduced crypto BSV, Zumers can now manage their marketing preferences directly from within the app, instead of having to reach out manually to our support team.

Another small thing we’re doing to put you in control and give you the best possible Zumo experience.

Towards a greener future
At Zumo, we’re serious about sustainability, and working hard to develop the solutions that will help us play our part in tackling the climate change emergency.

In June, we became one of the early signatories of the Crypto Climate Accord, pledging our commitment to achieve net-zero emissions from electricity consumption associated with our crypto-related operations by 2030, and to report progress toward this net-zero emissions target using best industry practices.

And later in the month, our Environmental and Sustainability Adviser, Kirsteen Harrison, spoke at CoinGeek 2021 in Zurich in a panel discussion of blockchain energy consumption and environmental sustainability.

We’re open about the sustainability challenges facing the crypto industry, and we believe it’s time to address that issue as openly and as objectively as possible.

Watch this space for further developments as we continue to work on developing our net zero strategy and the other ways in which we can contribute to the conversation around this vital topic.

Bright sparks
It always pays to end on good news, and on that note we’re absolutely delighted to announce a trio of awards nominations for members of the Zumo team.

Marketing Director Amelie Arras and COO Dagmara Aldridge are both finalists in the upcoming UK FinTech Awards, celebrating the best and brightest of UK fintech.

And our Co-Founder & CEO Nick Jones is in the running for EY Entrepreneur of the Year alongside an amazing cohort of Scottish businesses.

Congratulations, and we wish them all the very best of luck!

We’ll see you back here next month for another installment of Zumo news.
