Climate action, a further award shortlisting, and looking ahead to the festive season.
Another month, and we continue to push the envelope of the crypto frontier. US Bitcoin futures ETFs, meta & the metaverse, and $3 trillion dollars in sight for the global crypto markets as I write this update: suffice it to say, we’re expecting an eventful end of the year and beyond. Here’s your taster of what we got up to in the month of October.
As the world congregates in Glasgow for COP26, climate action is once more firmly top of the agenda and it seems clearer than ever that this topic will continue to be a defining issue across sectors, geographies and finance in all its forms.
In last month’s update, we shared with you the news of our joint round-table discussion with expert voices from across the sector, sparking critical discussion about the decarbonisation challenges facing the cryptocurrency industry.
This month, we published the outcomes of that Zumo-hosted discussion in a comprehensive ‘state of play’ report that aims to drive to the facts of the debate and present key findings on questions of methodology, benchmarking, collaboration and technology.
The report (which can be downloaded here) has been picked up in a range of media outlets and also feeds into a wider report from Global Digital Finance: Digital Assets – Laying ESG Foundations.
We invite comment and input to this crucial conversation, and will be using this foundation as a springboard for upcoming activity we will be announcing very shortly. Watch this space!
A team effort for a good cause
Walking for WasteAid
October also saw Team Zumo get involved on behalf of Zumo partner and waste management charity WasteAid.
Team members completed a 16.5-mile fundraising and awareness walk around the city of Edinburgh, and we’ll be continuing to raise funds until the end of the year.

Crypto Platform of the Year
Hot on the heels of a series of award recognitions throughout the year, we’re delighted to be shortlisted in the ‘Crypto Platform of the Year’ category at the upcoming AltFi Awards, alongside fellow finalists Coinbase and Bitpanda. The AltFi Awards 2021 recognise top innovators in financial services and banking, and the full winners will be announced on 26 November following a ceremony in London. Wish us luck!
