Where regulatory intent meets commercial reality
The UK’s developing regulatory framework for cryptoassets represents an important step towards greater market confidence and consumer protection. For businesses preparing to operate within the new regime, however, the practical boundaries of regulation will be just as important as its overall intent.
Hosted by Zumo and CMS, this private roundtable will bring together senior representatives from crypto, digital assets, financial services, legal and policy to explore how the regulatory perimeter is likely to affect real-world business models.
The discussion will consider the practical questions firms need to answer now, including how different activities may be treated, what the authorisation process could mean for UK market access and where uncertainty may remain as the regime moves towards implementation.
Zumo’s UK preparedness survey
Ahead of and during the session, attendees will be invited to complete Zumo’s short UK preparedness survey.
At the beginning of the roundtable, Zumo will share early findings and emerging themes from the initial survey responses. These findings will provide a starting point for a wider discussion of the grey areas, market dynamics and operational pain points associated with the incoming UK authorisation regime.
Survey responses will be treated confidentially and used only in aggregate. The aim is to build a clearer picture of how firms are approaching UK market access and regulatory preparedness.
Daniel Taylor will help lead the roundtable discussion and introduce early findings from Zumo’s UK preparedness survey. He will examine how firms are preparing for the incoming authorisation regime, where the regulatory perimeter may create practical uncertainty and what a credible and commercially workable UK market could require.
